Tour Vauban de Camaret-sur-Mer
The Vauban tower of Camaret-sur-Mer is a bastioned tower built in the late seventeenth century to defend the entrance to the Brest roadstead. It played a role in the Anglo-Dutch landing attempt of 1694, repelled at Camaret, and is part of the Fortifications of Vauban inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage.
Its red brick walls, crenellations and batteries facing the sea, right next to the chapel of Notre-Dame de Rocamadour and the port of Camaret, make up an emblematic landscape of the Crozon peninsula. You can visit the tower, the surroundings and the old ramparts, then continue to the Lagatjar alignments, the Pointe de Pen-Hir or Camaret's boat graveyard.
