Source du Loiret
One of the major curiosities of the Orléans Parc Floral. It is a resurgence of the Loire after waters circulate deep underground over 14 km in the Beauce limestone. It was not until 1901 that this phenomenon was established thanks to fluorescein poured upstream into the Loire's waters near Châteauneuf-sur-Loire. The Loiret's waters are always lukewarm, about 12°, including in winter. There is not one source but sources: the Gouffre, at the confluence with the Dhuy.
the Abîme, which bore the name "Priest's Hole", accidentally blocked in 1672 during works; the Bouillon is said to have resulted.
the Bouillon, the present source, which wells up at 7 m depth after circulating in underground galleries some of which are more than 8 m in diameter.
