Source de la Somme
The Somme rises in the small village of Fonsommes, 15 km north-east of Saint-Quentin, in the Aisne. It is a quiet river that flows 245 km through Picardy before entering the English Channel at Saint-Valery-sur-Somme.
The site of the source is pleasantly laid out for picnickers and walkers. The water flows from a blue-stone basin surrounded by attractive trees.
