Pont du diable de Thueyts

Ardèche, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Thueyts is a village of the Ardèche in the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park. It is built largely on a basalt lava flow that overlooks the Ardèche valley, which earns it the nickname Giants' Causeway for the part of the cliff cleared by the river.

There you find the Devil's Bridge, an old stone bridge that crosses the Ardèche where the river opened a bed in the rock. In the basalt cliff, faults have been turned into passages with ramps, including the King's ladder. The commune also has the Gueule d'Enfer waterfall, which falls about 100 metres above the Merdaric stream. The village also keeps Renaissance architecture, a small museum of old objects and the château de Blou. It has about 1,200 inhabitants.
