Parc oriental de Maulévrier

Maine-et-Loire, Pays de la Loire

The Maulévrier Oriental Park, labelled "Remarkable Garden", invites you to stroll and daydream. The largest Japanese garden in Europe charms nature lovers and the most discerning gardeners alike.

Created in the early twentieth century by an architect known for his passion for the Far East, Alexandre Marcel, the Maulévrier Oriental Park has regained all its beauty after some forty years of neglect. The lush vegetation hides many wonders: a river brightened by little bridges, Khmer statues, Japanese lanterns and a pagoda.

As zen and romantic as it is unusual, this 29-hectare garden inspires serenity and harmony. If the spectacle of colours and shapes is beautiful by day, it proves even more enchanting on summer nights.
