Parc de Sceaux

Hauts-de-Seine, Île-de-France

The Parc de Sceaux, in the Hauts-de-Seine, was designed by André Le Nôtre at the end of the 17th century for Colbert and then his son, the Marquis de Seignelay. Several times the park almost disappeared. During the Revolution it was turned into an agricultural school and everything that made it beautiful vanished. In the early 19th century the château was destroyed after the estate had been sold as national property.

The park covers 181 hectares: 121 in the commune of Sceaux and 60 in Antony, whose second largest park is the Parc Heller.
