Musée des Instruments de Médecine
The Musée des Instruments de Médecine of the Toulouse hospitals is housed in the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Jacques, in the Jean-de-Rudelle area, Rue Viguerie, in Toulouse. The former hospital has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1998.
The collections cover the second half of the 19th century to the present day. They were selected from more than three thousand hospital objects and instruments, representing several surgical specialities, and are shown alongside everyday objects from hospital life. They range from old obstetric equipment to instruments now forgotten.
Guided tours in French are offered by reservation. Free visitor guides are available in French, English and Spanish.
The museum is part of the same complex as the Museum of the History of Medicine, and the visit can continue with the heritage rooms, the hospital chapel and its gardens. It suits those curious about the history of medicine, lovers of hospital heritage and groups.
