Musée départemental des sapeurs-pompiers du Val d'Oise

Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France

Begun in 1974 by two professional firefighters and enlarged over the years by the patient collecting of the Friends of the Museum, the collection of the Val-d'Oise fire brigade museum now numbers some 6,000 items, mostly from the Val-d'Oise. First shown in the basement of the Osny fire station, it has been displayed since 1998 in the stables of the Château de Grouchy.

This heritage is organised in five main themes: vehicles, firefighting and rescue equipment, uniforms, helmets and headgear from 1830 to 1960, testimonies on the life of the departmental fire brigade, and a collection of toys unique in France.
