Château de Méry-sur-Oise
For a long time the Château de Méry-sur-Oise, in the Val-d'Oise, belonged to the Ségur family, and the Countess Sophie de Ségur wrote many of her famous books here. Legend has it that it dates from around 862 and that over the centuries it hosted illustrious families and great moments of French history.
It survived every upheaval, evolving with fashions and the renowned artists who worked on it. At the dawn of the 18th century it acquired its perfect symmetry, its Renaissance façade looking out over the lakes and pools of a splendid 27-hectare park running down to the Oise.
