Musée de la Reddition

Marne, Grand Est

The Musée de la Reddition, on rue Franklin-Roosevelt in Reims, occupies the former Collège moderne, now the lycée Roosevelt, which housed in 1945 the headquarters of the Allied command. Listed as a historic monument, it keeps the map room, where the act of unconditional surrender of the German armies was signed in the night of 6 to 7 May 1945, at 2:41 am.

The room is preserved in its May 1945 state, with its wall maps and the signing table, and offers a sound-and-light experience. The museum closed in May 2025 for a complete overhaul of its route and reopened on 7 May 2026. The chronological circuit evokes the events before and after the signing using archives, uniforms, objects and digital animations, with content in several languages.

It is for all those interested in the end of the Second World War in Europe.
