Musée de l'école du Monastier
Near the centre of Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille, in the Haute-Loire, the former Saint-Joseph school has housed the School Museum since 2013.
A schoolmaster and schoolmistress teach as in the old days, in period classrooms: dictation with a dip pen, arithmetic on an abacus, moral lessons and recitation follow one another, with good marks and dunce's caps. Before entering the classroom, visitors put on smocks, clogs and berets.
During break time they can explore the museum's 400 m² and its rich collections of old school objects.
