Musée Crozatier

Haute-Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Musée Crozatier was founded in 1820 in Le Puy-en-Velay, in the Haute-Loire. Its present building, opened in 1851, stands at the end of the Jardin Henri-Vinay, known as the 'horseshoe' because of its shape.

The variety of its collections, covering painting, sculpture, prehistory, natural sciences, geology, mechanics, lace and regional arts, offers an introduction to the history of the Velay and the Haute-Loire. The museum notably keeps the death masks of those executed in the Auberge Rouge affair.
