Les Karellis

Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Les Karellis is a winter sports resort in the commune of Montricher-Albanne, in the Maurienne valley, in the Savoie. Born of an agreement between the commune and the Renouveau association, it opened in the 1970s and was designed entirely as holiday villages.

Its central forum, horseshoe-shaped and open to the south over the valley, holds the 'Remarkable Contemporary Architecture' label. The resort is entirely car-free: once there, visitors get about on foot or on skis.

The ski area has runs of all levels served by about fifteen lifts, with views of the great Maurienne passes and massifs. In summer hiking trails start from the resort, notably towards the Pain de Sucre, the summit overlooking the south of the area. Les Karellis is about an hour from Chambéry.
