Le village miniature provençal
The miniature Provençal village 'La Tuilière' is at Grignan, in the Drôme Provençale. It recreates a Provençal village of the early 20th century at 1:6 scale, over about 400 m².
More than 70 houses, all different, are peopled with many figures and animals, including dressed santons about 30 cm high, often unique. The scenes show village life: the market, church, school, bistro, bakery, grocer's, pharmacy, grain and paper mill, a game of pétanque on the square or belote on a café terrace, and farm life. Some scenes are animated, with sound effects and films.
The visit takes about three quarters of an hour. Temporary exhibitions, notably on santons and nativity scenes from around the world, complete the route, and a shop sells santons and Provençal products. Groups can have a guided tour.
