Le village et le cirque de Naves
Naves is a small medieval hamlet at the foot of the Cévennes, in the far south of the Ardèche, two kilometres from Les Vans, the commune it joined in 1972. It is a characterful village well worth a visit.
The landscapes around Naves show great geological variety because of the Orcières fault, also called the Brahic fault. About 6 kilometres long, it extends the northern fault of Mont Lozère. This gives Naves and its surroundings a rich variety of scenery: within a few kilometres, typically Mediterranean landscapes give way to those characteristic of the Cévennes and the Massif Central.
