Le Glacier des Bossons
The largest icefall in Europe.
The spectacular setting of the Mont Blanc and Bossons glaciers inspired Horace-Bénédict de Saussure, in his Voyages dans les Alpes (1779-1786), to write a particularly glowing description, praising majestic glaciers separated by great forests and crowned by astonishingly tall granite rocks shaped like obelisks, among the grandest and most singular spectacles imaginable.
