Lavoûte-Chilhac

Haute-Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Lavoûte-Chilhac is a village in the Haute-Loire, in the Allier gorges, south of Brioude. It is ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Its site is striking: the stone houses crowd into a bend of the river, around an old priory with tall buildings, glimpsed from the bridge and the banks.

The walk is on foot, from lanes to riverbanks, with fine views over the Allier. The village is a pleasant stop for those discovering the Allier gorges, the Brioude region or the road to Langeac and Le Puy-en-Velay, and lends itself well to a photo stop.
