La Planète des Crocodiles
La Planète des Crocodiles, at Civaux in the Vienne, is a zoological and botanical park of more than 5,000 m², presenting the animals, plants and landscapes of the countries where crocodilians live in the wild.
Nine species are represented by more than 200 animals: Chinese and Mississippi alligators, Nile, dwarf and saltwater crocodiles, spectacled and broad-snouted caimans, African false gharials and Cuvier's dwarf caiman, the smallest crocodilian. The saltwater crocodile, which can reach 7 metres and weigh more than a tonne, is the largest.
The park also brings together more than a thousand exotic plants: cotton plants, papayas, bananas, mangoes, guavas, avocados, giant bamboos and coconut palms, as well as orchids, heliconias, passion flowers, a baobab and a traveller's tree.
