La Géode

Paris, Île-de-France

La Géode is a cinema with a hemispherical screen in the Parc de la Villette, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by the architect Adrien Fainsilber and the engineer Gérard Chamaillou, this polished metal sphere opened on 6 May 1985. Opened a year before the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, it is now attached to it.

Closed in 2018 because its projection system was outdated, it reopened on 18 December 2024 after about six years of work. It now has a 1,000 m² dome screen designed for an IMAX 4K laser projector and an IMAX 6.0 sound system. Capacity has fallen from 400 to 286 seats, with several possible recline angles.

The building belongs to Universcience and is operated by Pathé Cinémas. It is served by metro line 7 and tram T3, at Porte de la Villette station.
