La ferme du monde

Morbihan, Bretagne

La Ferme du Monde is an animal park at Bois Brassu, in Carentoir, in the east of the Morbihan. Opened in 1996, it brings together farm animals from the five continents, living in semi-freedom on about twenty hectares of wooded parkland.

The space is organised by zones, one per continent. In Europe, you meet ginger Highland cattle, a Breton draught mare or cattle of the Hungarian steppes; in Africa, dromedaries, African goats and sheep. Other areas present yaks, Texas Longhorn cows, watusi, Shetland ponies or Chinese pigs.

Two walking circuits, of about 1 km and 4.5 km, let you tour the site on foot; you can also choose the commented little train or the pedal kart. A mini-farm invites children to feed goats and sheep, brush ponies, collect eggs or stroke rabbits, with workshops for 5–10 year-olds.

The park has made inclusion a priority, employing staff with disabilities. It is closed at the start of the year, and is visited from late spring to autumn.
