Jardin Georges Delaselle

Finistère, Bretagne

The Georges Delaselle garden is on the island of Batz, off Roscoff, in the Finistère, at the place called Pen Baz. It was created from 1897 by Georges Delaselle, a botany enthusiast who patiently gathered plants from many regions of the world.

Facing the sea, the garden enjoys a mild climate, softened by the influence of the Gulf Stream, which allows species usually associated with warmer climates to be grown in the open ground. You discover notably a collection of palms rare for Brittany, as well as exotic plants native to America, Africa, Asia and Oceania, set among cliffs and rocks.

The visit is self-guided and lasts about an hour. The island of Batz is reached by boat from Roscoff, after a short crossing. The garden is open to the public in the fine season.
