île de Port-Cros
Port-Cros is undoubtedly the wildest of the 3 islands of the Golden Isles archipelago, but also the most mountainous. With steep cliffs, the island is wooded with Aleppo pines and holm oaks and you discover exceptional marine fauna. To discover it, the underwater trail from La Palud beach is not to be missed! The Port-Cros National Park is the first marine national park in Europe, it was created in December 1963. Following a marked botanical trail, you meet several forts, witnesses of the island's history.
The beauty of the landscapes, the richness of land and marine biotopes, the function as a stopover for migratory birds, make Port-Cros an exceptional natural site.
