Grès de St Anne d'Evenos

Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

At Sainte-Anne d'Évenos, in the Var, the sandstone rocks are worth exploring closely to see the honeycomb cavities of almost 'biological' appearance carved by the mistral, as well as a small natural arch. Beware of falls, however, especially in wet weather, as lichens make the rocks slippery and there are few holds.

Nearby are a Vauclusian spring, the Source de la Foux, and the Cimail and Destel gorges, on the road to Toulon.
