Gorges de Baudinard

Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

The Baudinard gorges are gorges of the Verdon between the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Var, below the Sainte-Croix dam. They take their name from the village of Baudinard-sur-Verdon, two kilometres to the south on the left bank. The upper end is occupied by the Sainte-Croix dam and crossed by the Sainte-Croix bridge at the end of the lake; at the lower end lies the small Montpezat lake, formed by the Quinson dam.

The Verdon flows here in green water between limestone walls, which attracts paddlers. The Tour du Lac de Sainte-Croix hiking trail overlooks the river on the left bank. The area is quieter than the main Verdon gorges and combines walking, kayaking and swimming nearby.
