Cristallerie de La Rochère
The La Rochère art glassworks, at Passavant-la-Rochère in the Haute-Saône, was founded in 1475 by Simon de Thysac, a gentleman glassmaker. For more than five centuries it has carried on the skills of master glassmakers.
Visitors can watch the glassmakers gather, shape and form mouth-blown glass. An ecomuseum, with an exhibition and a video, traces the history and techniques of glass. The site also includes an art gallery, a Japanese garden and a shop in a 17th-century building, where the glassworks' products are displayed.
