Cité internationale de la dentelle
A witness to Calais's industrial history, the International Lace and Fashion Centre is above all a lively place of discovery. Inaugurated on 11 June 2009, it presents the skills, techniques, economic and social history and uses of lace, as well as its most contemporary aspects, making it both a place of memory and of modernity.
The museum is devoted mainly to the history of lace made on mechanical looms. It is housed in a former lace factory, the Boulart factory, founded in the 1870s and in operation until 2000.
