Cirque de Vènes
The Cirque de Vènes is a natural site in the commune of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, in the Lot, in the heart of the Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park. This rocky amphitheatre with high limestone cliffs overlooks a wooded valley; a narrow lane runs at the foot of the rock face, between boulders, box and oaks.
The site can be explored on foot or by bike, on an easy outing close to the medieval village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of the most beautiful villages in France. It combines well with a visit to the village, the cliffs above the Lot and the towpath. In summer, early morning and late afternoon are the quietest and coolest times.
