Châtillon-en-Diois

Drôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Châtillon-en-Diois is a village of the Diois, in the Drôme, east of Die. It is ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. The stone houses are tiered at the foot of limestone cliffs, along cobbled lanes, stairs and small flowered courtyards where Virginia creeper runs over the façades.

The village is a starting point for walks in a mid-mountain landscape, among clairette vines, forests and the summits of the neighbouring Vercors. It is visited quietly on foot, in about an hour, and combines well with Die, its cathedral and its cellars, or with an excursion to the Col de Menée and the south Vercors.
