Château des Grammont
The Château des Grammont, at Villersexel in the Haute-Saône, was designed in the Louis XIII style by the architect Eugène Danjoy and built from 1882 to 1887. It replaced an earlier château destroyed in 1871 during the Battle of Villersexel, practically the only French victory of the Franco-Prussian War.
First registered in 1981, the château is now covered by three protection orders: the residence and the stables have been listed in full as historic monuments since 2005; the park and the ruins of the old château have been registered since 2005; and the façades and roofs of the other buildings (the entrance building known as the Régie, the porter's lodge, the tower and nearby sheds, the old dairy, the greenhouse, the orangery and the former riding school) have been registered since 2001. The château can be visited and offers guest rooms.
