Château d'Oricourt
The castle of Oricourt is a medieval fortress in the Haute-Saône, probably built around the middle of the 12th century on the edge of a plateau facing the plain of Lure. It is about seven kilometres from Villersexel, between Vesoul and Lure.
Under restoration since 1969 and listed as a historic monument in 1984, it is regarded as one of the best-preserved examples of medieval military architecture in Franche-Comté.
The visit, led by a guide, uses a model of the site. It takes in the upper courtyard, the restored chapel, the seigneurial oven, the well, the cellars and several rooms, as well as the dovecote. A replica trebuchet is also on show. The castle also hosts events and takes part in the European Heritage Days.
