Château de Saint-Cyr
The castle of Saint-Cyr, at Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d'Or in the Rhône, was built at the end of the 12th century on the initiative of Girin de Rosset, seneschal of the Church of Lyon, before being rebuilt around 1210 by Archbishop Renaud II de Forez.
In 1422, after their victory over the troops of Charles VII, the Anglo-Burgundians ravaged the Mont d'Or: Saint-Cyr was looted and burned, and the castle occupied. Of its square curtain wall flanked by towers, a square keep 21 metres high survives today, listed as a historic monument since 1926.
