Château de Plieux
The Château de Plieux, in the Gers, is a medieval fortress of the 'Gascon castle' type, built around 1340 and lit by many windows opened in the Renaissance. It occupies the top of the village of Plieux.
It is lived in and is the headquarters of the Pli selon Pli association, which has organised major contemporary art exhibitions here, with artists such as Jean-Paul Marcheschi, Eugène Leroy, Jannis Kounellis, Miró, Christian Boltanski and Josef Albers. It currently houses the Jean-Paul Marcheschi collection, displaying on three levels a large body of work by this artist, born in 1951.
