Château de Milly-la-Forêt
The château of Milly-la-Forêt, in the Essonne, parts of which date from the 13th century, was rebuilt and enlarged around 1475 by Admiral de Graville. Beyond the stone bridge that replaced the old drawbridge, it has a fine façade with two crenellated round towers.
The château and its park have been on the inventory of sites since 1946, and together with Jean Cocteau's house and the church they were registered as a picturesque site in 1972. Milly-la-Forêt is a commune in the south-east of the Essonne, headquarters of the Gâtinais français Regional Nature Park.
