Château de Jossigny

Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France

The Château de Jossigny, in the Seine-et-Marne, was built by Jacques Hardouin-Mansart de Sagonne, the last of the Mansart dynasty of architects, for Claude-François des Graviers, whose arms, combined with those of the Bragelongne family, appear at the top of the gate, dated 1753.

The west façade, on the courtyard side, consists of two wings and a projecting central block, all three under hipped roofs. Rococo keystones and clasps decorate the openings and pilasters of the central block, and the triangular pediment has an oculus. To the east, the central block of the garden façade has three sides, which, with the building's proportions and the upturned eaves at the base of the roof, gives the château a Chinese look.
