Château de Buzenval
The Château de Buzenval stood in the hamlet of Buzenval, now part of Rueil-Malmaison, in the Hauts-de-Seine. During the siege of Paris in 1870-1871, the château and its surroundings were the scene of fierce fighting, notably on 19 January 1871. The battle cost the lives of the painter Henri Régnault, the explorer Gustave Lambert and Colonel de Rochebrune. The name Buzenval has remained linked to this episode and was given to a Paris metro station.
The Buzenval estate, enlarged by the Empress Josephine in 1805, was later divided: part of it is now a golf course. A heritage inventory also mentions a park of the Château de Buzenval laid out in the 17th and 19th centuries. Access conditions are not specified.
