Château de Bois-Préau
Bois-Préau, in the Hauts-de-Seine, stands in a 17-hectare English-style park that was once linked to the Château de Malmaison. An annex of Malmaison, it housed the Empress Josephine's doctor and guests. Rebuilt in 1855, it was given to the State by Mr and Mrs Tuck-Stell in 1929.
Opened in 1958, the museum is devoted to Napoleon's captivity and death on St Helena, the return of his ashes and the imperial legend. Welcomed by the statue of Josephine by Vital-Dubray, visitors can enjoy the pleasant park, although the museum itself has long been closed for works.
