Château de Bissy-sur-Fley
The Château de Bissy-sur-Fley, also called the Château Pontus de Tyard, is a fortified house built between the 14th and 16th centuries. It has square and round towers, dovecotes, a walled upper courtyard and 19th-century outbuildings. It has been protected as a historic monument since 1932.
It was the birthplace and main residence of Pontus de Tyard (1521-1605), poet of the Pléiade, Bishop of Chalon, astronomer and adviser to kings.
An association founded in 2001 works to restore it and bring it to life. The site offers self-guided visits in summer and cultural events from March to September, including tastings of wine from the château's conservatory vineyard. It lies in southern Burgundy, in the Saône-et-Loire.
