Cascades de la Savoureuse
The Savoureuse waterfalls are found at Lepuix, in the Territoire de Belfort, at the foot of the Ballon d'Alsace. The Savoureuse rises near the summit and drops about 220 metres in cascades over a granite bed lined with dense vegetation.
The path starts from the car park of the restaurant Le Saut de la Truite and goes up the river. The Saut de la Truite is easily seen from the road. A little higher, the Rummel waterfall is the other major fall on the route. The path then passes the Petit Haut pond before reaching the summit of the Ballon d'Alsace, where the Virgin of the Ballon stands. Shorter loops let you limit yourself to the waterfalls. Along the road, several small marked falls complete the picture.
