Cascade du Rummel

Territoire de Belfort, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

The Rummel waterfall is on the Savoureuse, north of Lepuix, beside the Ballon d'Alsace road (D465), in the Territoire de Belfort. It is the most striking of a series of small falls along the upper course of the river, at the foot of the Ballon d'Alsace massif.

The water descends a series of rock steps before forming a calm pool. A small parking area is set in a bend of the road, and the first falls are a few minutes away along an easy waymarked path.

The site can also be reached on foot from the Saut de la Truite inn, going up the river. It is part of a route linking several waterfalls of the valley, including the Saut de la Truite, up to the Ballon d'Alsace on the GR5. The flow is strongest after rain.
