Cascade du Saut du Loup

Puy-de-Dôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Saut du Loup waterfall is in the commune of Le Mont-Dore, in the Puy-de-Dôme, at the end of the Ronde des Cascades, a forest route that also links the Queureuilh and Rossignolet waterfalls from the landscaped cemetery car park. Fed by a stream descending from the Puy de l'Angle, it splits in two before rushing down an old lava flow, forming two parallel curtains of water several metres apart at the bottom of a rocky cirque, for a drop of about 90 metres. The full loop takes about an hour and a half, preferably between April and October.
