Cap d'Antifer

Seine-Maritime, Normandie

Cap d'Antifer is a cape in Seine-Maritime where chalk cliffs project into the Channel, north of Le Havre and south-west of Étretat. It is part of the Alabaster Coast, lined with high chalk walls.

The extreme point of the cape cannot be passed at the foot of the cliff, even at low spring tide: it is one of the few points on the coast where the foot of the cliff remains inaccessible on foot. This particularity makes it an area to be contemplated from the top of the cliffs, notably from the path that runs along the coast. The name of the cape was given to a deep-water oil terminal, built just to the south and officially called Port du Havre-Antifer, which sits beside this natural chalk landscape.
