Volerie du Forez

Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Volerie du Forez is a bird-of-prey park at the Château Sainte-Anne, at Marcilly-le-Châtel, in the Forez plain in the Loire, between Montbrison and Boën. The site is organised around an old château and an aviary devoted to birds.

The park has more than a hundred birds of many species: eagles, falcons, vultures, kites, buzzards, eagle owls and owls, as well as parrots. The shows combine free flights and bird presentations, with falconers explaining each species' behaviour. An equestrian show and an owl show complete the programme.

Visitors can also have supervised encounters with the birds of prey. Children can try falconry and visit a mini-farm, and falconry courses and discovery days are offered to those wanting to go further. The park opens seasonally; check the season's programme before going.
