Saint-Saturnin
Built on a lava flow in the green Veyre valley, this village once belonged to the Auvergne family of La Tour, to whom we owe its imposing castle of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
The fortress, which has been seriously restored, stands next to the town, at the end of the large and beautiful Place de l'Ormeau, enhanced by a Renaissance fountain with a polygonal basin. Built of blond arkose, the magnificent church of Saint-Saturnin prides itself on being, with that of Orcival, the only one in Auvergne to have saved its bell tower from the wrath of the Revolution.
