Plage de Deauville
Deauville beach, in the Calvados, is one of the most famous beaches on the Côte Fleurie. Wide and of fine sand, it is lined by the Planches, a wooden promenade of about 640 metres, and by its bathing cabins that bear the names of actors and directors invited to the American film festival. Its colourful parasols are one of the symbols of the town.
The resort, founded in the nineteenth century, has kept its elegance with its villas, casino, racecourse and Belle Époque hotels. You can walk there all year round, swim in summer, or try sand yachting and horse riding on the beach. Trouville-sur-Mer, on the other side of the Touques, is easily visited on foot.
