Musée Picasso d'Antibes
Built on the former acropolis of the Greek town of Antipolis, the Château Grimaldi was occupied from 1385 by a branch of the Genoese Grimaldi family. In 1608, King Henry IV acquired the fief for the French crown. The Grimaldis moved to the neighbouring castle of Cagnes, and their former castle in Antibes became in turn the residence of the King's governor, the town hall and later a barracks until 1924. The town of Antibes bought the dilapidated castle the following year, and it became the Musée Grimaldi.
