Musée d'Art et d'Histoire
The Belfort museum, in the Territoire de Belfort, was created in 1872 by the Société Belfortaine d'Émulation. It is built around an archaeological collection reflecting regional daily life from prehistory (the burial caves of Cravanche) to the period of the invasions (the Burgundian cemetery of Bourogne), by way of the Roman conquest (the Offemont pottery workshop and the villa at Bavilliers).
It also holds mementoes of the military figures who defended Belfort many times, such as General Lecourbe's sword and Denfert-Rochereau's personal effects.
