Mornac-sur-Seudre

Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The Seudre is a small coastal river of 70 km whose estuary is part of the Marennes oyster basin. At the end of this estuary lies the little port of Mornac, with its oyster farmers' huts lined up along the channel. A maze of lanes surrounds an old fortified church, partly Romanesque with a twelfth-century semicircular apse, the nave and façade being fifteenth century.

It is a very welcoming village where art craftsmen (potters, weavers) are established whose work remains faithful to the traditions of Saintonge craftsmanship. There is no doubt the visitor will find there something to satisfy curiosity and a taste for beautiful objects.
