Les gorges du pont du diable

Haute-Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Gorges du Pont du Diable are at La Vernaz, in the Vallée d'Aulps, not far from Morzine, in Haute-Savoie. The Dranse de Morzine has carved a narrow rocky defile there, which you walk on footbridges fixed above the river.

The visit starts at the site reception, then crosses a beech wood, one of the oldest in the region, before reaching the gorges. The route includes a climb of about a hundred metres of elevation and ends near a glass platform, the Pas du Diable, hanging above the torrent. A local legend associates the bridge spanning the gorge with the devil.

The site is open in season, from April to September, and is recognised as an emblematic site of the Chablais UNESCO Global Geopark. It links the Aulps valley with the Chablais massifs.
