Le Ravin de Corboeuf

Haute-Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Corbœuf ravine is a geological site at Rosières, in the Haute-Loire, about twenty kilometres from Le Puy-en-Velay, in the Emblavez. It is sometimes nicknamed the French or Auvergne "Colorado".

Its slopes, cut into badlands-type reliefs, take their colours from layers of varied clays that form true drapery. The shades change with the weather and the season. The environment is fragile: you should stay on the paths.

You can discover it on foot from Rosières, following the Sentier de la Galoche, which follows the line of an old railway, or by car by going to the hamlet of Chastel. An easy loop of about 3.8 km, about an hour and a half's walk, starts from Rosières.
