Chapelle Saint Michel
The Chapel of Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe, in the Haute-Loire, is a Romanesque church of the 10th and 12th centuries in Aiguilhe, a commune bordering Le Puy-en-Velay. It stands on top of a volcanic peak, the rock of Aiguilhe, about 82 metres high, and is reached by a staircase of 268 steps.
Its polychrome façade combines Byzantine art and the Romanesque art of the Velay. Inside are frescoes and a treasury, including a reliquary Christ wearing a colobium, crosses and fabrics.
